Four Seasons New York Downtown Launches An Exciting New Series Of Suite Designs This Fall

Photographed by Joe Thomas

Just on the cusp of New York City’s most magical time of the year, Four Seasons New York Downtown is making a lovely addition to the property’s famously luxurious accommodations. Six new suites have been recently renovated by award-winning interior architect Bill Rooney and his team at Bill Rooney Studio, Inc. Being one of Rooney’s final interior masterpieces, the goal of the redesign was not just to redecorate but to tell a story that, according to Rooney, would “resonate with every guest with whom we engage. Our design vision for these suites adds to and comfortably contrasts with the existing, serene interior architecture. The intimate aesthetic, which is more like a residence, is influenced by the Tribeca art scene, confident fashion, the forward-looking, bold spirit and vibrancy of New York City.”

The redesign consists of two styles known as “Metropolis” and “Tribeca” suites and four Gotham suites, each lodging featuring unique furnishing that blends modern elegance with vintage flare. Taking inspiration from Mid-Century Modern design, there are several original pieces from famed designers used to elevate the designs, a particularly memorable piece is the stunning M. Vuillermoz-designed 1960 mahogany polyhedron-shaped bar cabinet from France, located in the Tribeca suite.

Also, tapping into New York City’s vibrant community of local artisans – talents such as Mark Albrecht, Aguirre Design, and Egg Collective were brought aboard to curate a collection of rich textures, colors, and finishes throughout the suites as well as bringing in an exceptional collection of art by curator Shashi Caudhill which features artists like Nan Goldin’s View By Night By My Window and Dovima Under the El by William Helburn.

According to Thomas Carreras, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown, tapping into using a majority of New York Talents when working on creating the spaces was the key to developing these stunning new properties. “Tribeca continues to be the epicenter of New York’s art, culture, and fashion scene and is the most vibrant neighborhoods in The City. As we designed our new suites, it was important for us to embrace the lifestyle of our neighborhood to carefully embody the essence of its rich heritage, culture, and architectural uniqueness.”

These exclusive rooms also include a curated collection of amenities to ensure guests feel right at home. Within each suite are a collection of classic, vintage-inspired wooden games, a Taschen library, and marble catchalls and accessories by Anastasio Home. The Metropolis and Tribeca suites also feature traditional record players with collections from iconic New York musicians.

You can elevate your experience even further with one of our new wellness rituals, especially for guests. Our Essential Fitness ritual includes a meditation cushion and yoga mat to stretch out and ease any stiff muscles from a day of exploring. Or, unwind with our Ceremonial Soak Experience that features bath salts by Bathorium an affirmation card by Mindfulness by The Collective, and other, sleek Auteur amenities.
