Retail giant Fred Segal has made a name for itself as the go-to west coast shopping experience for the LA fashion elite and celebrity clientele. Known for pioneering the shop-in-shop concept and experiential retail, the company has been creating unique collaborations with designers, artists, and other visionaries since the sixties when they earned the moniker “Curator of Cool”. The lifestyle brand is now making one of its biggest moves yet with a 1600-foot retail pop-up in New York City on Lafayette St in Soho.
Jeff Lotman, the CEO of Fred Segal & Global Icons, says about the move to NYC “We believe New York and Los Angeles share a similar mindset in seeking comfort, quality, and an elevated experience with the brands they shop. That is why NY felt like a natural home for this collection, we share the same philosophies when it comes to shopping,” Among its offerings in the New York outpost will be a freshly launched private label collection, Neighborhoods, which was designed by Alfredo Settimio. The line will feature stylish, relaxed pieces with gender-inclusive silhouettes and ultra-soft fabrications.
Also available from the retailer will be the extremely successful limited edition vintage collection called, FOUND. It includes items that are artfully sourced by Therese Lotman, the EVP of Fred Segal and curator of FOUND. The range consists of hand-selected vintage and upcycled men’s and women’s outwear, knitwear, shoes, and accessories. Available items are sourced from the 60s through the 90s and include such items as high-quality American-made denim, refurbished Rolexes, and a seasonal assortment of suede & leathers. Lotman says on bringing the collection to New York “FOUND grew from my love for timeless style and design, and it’s so exciting to see the collection extend beyond Los Angeles. We had so much fun curating the initial assortment in the Soho Fred Segal Concept store to the modern New Yorker looking for unique and wearable style.”
