Downtown Arts Secrets

One of the best things to discover while exploring Downtown Manhattan is the unique, emerging arts scene. Blink and you might miss Mmuseumm, NYC’s tiniest museum – a 36-square-foot exhibition space housed in a defunct freight elevator shaft. You’ll also find the last remaining “The Earth Room” art installation. Created by Walter De Maria, the installation consists of a 22-inch-deep layer of dirt, which must be regularly watered, spread across a 3,600-square-foot gallery space. If arthouse films are more your pace, the Film Forum theatre located on the edge of SoHo is a space best known for showcasing a curation of independent films that you won’t find elsewhere, foreign films and classics.

Find Film Forum at 209 W Houston St, New York, NY 10014
